  • Abstract
This work presents an optimized broadband quasi-Yagi planar antenna with a new driver configuration that looks like a bowtie antenna for wireless communication applications. The proposed quasi-Yagi antenna represents an improvement over existing printed antenna topologies, simultaneously exhibiting increased bandwidth, excellent radiation properties, and simple construction. The antenna was firstly designed to work at 2.4 GHz, satisfying the standards of Bluetooth system and WLAN, and finally was optimized to include the frequency of 1.9 GHz and PCS applications. The simulation and design optimization were done by a commercial software, CST Microwave Studio, that uses the Finite Integration Technique (FIT). Numerical results are compared to measured ones and good agreement is observed.
