Abstract
The design and manufacturing of a highly integrated LMDS receiver realized on a glass substrate (GMICTM) is described. The unit is totally integrated behind a 6.5 square inch microstrip patch antenna with a nominal gain of 30 dBi. Innovative packaging techniques were incorporated in the design in order to reduce unit costs and provide environmental protection to the MM-wave circuitry. More than 20000 units were successfully field deployed and used in an analog video distribution system as well as for one-way Internet service with a speed of 500 Kbit/s
