Abstract :
It has been recongnized some years ago that costs of running the water supply systems can be significantly reduced if, e.g. pump schedules, valve positions, treatment plant operation or controlled flow rates are chosen appropriately to make use of system reservoir storages and time-varying electricity tariff. Suitable information feedback mechanisms from a system to a control computer can be applied in order to overcome incomplete knowledge of system structure its certain parameters and inputs, e.g. water demands. Available computing power enabled implementation of advanced optimizing control algorithms based on solving difficult optimization problems in online mode
