Abstract :
The author gives a brief definition of an electrically small antenna. The characteristic expected of an electrically-short antenna is low radiation resistance and large reactance hence very small instantaneous bandwidth with respect to the impedance of normal radio equipment. The author considers four antennas: the short dipole (or monopole), transmission line antenna, short notch antenna, and the small loop antenna. The features and applications of each antenna are discussed. The matching problems of small antennas is also discussed
