Abstract :
The author describes the construction of a security concept car by the Rover Group to highlight automobile protection. The car chosen to be the basis for the concept car was a Rover Sterling saloon which already had several useful security features: bonded glass for all fixed glazing; twin bonnet latches; sturdy trunk latch; and an anti-syphon device in the fuel tank. Additionally over thirty security features were added to the car under the four headings: physical exterior security; alarm system; vehicle immobilisation; and reduced desirability to a thief
