Abstract
This paper proposes an analysis of the second-order statistics concerning the envelope and phase of eta-mu generalized fading channels. So, a simple and closed-form expression for the phase crossing rate of the signal operating in such channels will be obtained. Furthermore, exact expressions for the level crossing rate and average fade duration of eta-mu channels will also be attained. The analytical results are thoroughly validated by reducing the general case to some particular cases (Nakagami-m, Hoyt, and Rayleigh), for which the solutions are known, and by means of Monte Carlo simulation, for the more general case.
