Abstract :
Addresses the problem of low-bias control for an active magnetic bearing (AMB). Using a complementarity flux condition, a simplified, three-dimensional model is used to describe the dynamics of this mode of operation. Results from the theory of saturating control are used to design a stabilizing controller. The saturation level is a free parameter that is chosen by the control engineer. Numerical simulations at the end of the paper show the effectiveness of the design method proposed
