Abstract :
This paper proposes a surface optimization method on ergonomics and surface fairing in the process of product design. First, build constructive curves and surface by the key ergonomics points which had been measured. Secondly, establish the optimization mathematic model of curves and surface by energy method. Then, define the penalty factor in order to change the constrained optimization into the unconstrained optimization through the Penalty Function. Finally, search the near optimum solutions for the fairing curves and surface by Genetic Algorithm. The effectiveness and applicability of this method are demonstrated by experimental results on the seat surface design. It is shown that this optimization method not only improves the surface fairing characteristic but also meets the requirements of ergonomics.
