  • Abstract
Business Case: EducationAccess to Info. Existing low-cost housing clusters. Government aiding PLC popularity?. PLC modem design considerations - price. At least 30% unemployment. Most unemployed have unplanned babies. Children will be educated apple does not fall far from the tree. above situation indicates undesired cycle. SOLUTION: EDUCATE THE CHILDREN. CHILDREN MORE SUSCEPTIBLE!!! USE of PLC to address this problem since electricity supply reach almost all people yet certain areas do not have ADSL ready houses or wireless communications coverage-expensive. Low-cost housing subsidized (partially/fully) by Government smaller houses less distance. Government donates electricity to poor people (per month small units (kWh). Service delivery outlets (municipalities=local authorities) administer donation. In most cases municipalities supervise the grid in their area. Cost of PLC modem too expensive (Amounts 80-100 Euros?) different classes of modems? Help a delevoping country by proposing to help the poor people e.g. education, access to info?? Government night popularize PLC in developing country sees it as a solution ?? Government to buy from PLC supplier at extremely low price (buy in bulk) after witnessing convincing trials Government GIVE modem to poor areas. Start by using CENELEC bands(B,C,D) for broadcasting Teletext educational information and area specific information. System layout/design should allow for components add-on reduce price(as seen by government).
