On-line statistical control of production lines

The advent of microprocessors has enabled the whole process of data collection, analysis and responses to be implemented faster and more efficiently than the traditional methods, with consequent savings in product and labour. MCI Systems have developed a suite of computer programs to automate this process and thereby control and monitor various aspects of the filling line. The paper reviews the background of these techniques, summarises the present situation and looks forward to the future use of statistical analysis in this field
