Abstract
We present work concerning the use of differential propagation phase to calibrate polarisation-diversity radars, to predict attenuation and differential attenuation and to estimate rainfall rate at S-band and C-band. Both experimental data from CAMRa (S-band) and the CNR Polar55C (C-band) in Italy are used. The effects of attenuation at C-band are illustrated, and the improvement in rainfall rate estimation after the correction for attenuation using differential propagation phase are shown and compared with that estimated from differential propagation phase alone
