Abstract :
It is anticipated that the period 1990 to 2010 will see an expansion in space activities, both in the United Kingdom and Europe. It is to be expected that this will lead to an increase in demand for engineers and scientists with knowledge and expertise in space technology and associated fields, coupled with an increased student demand for degree courses with a space-related content. Since 1985 Kingston Polytechnic has been moving towards fulfilling this demand and has introduced space engineering as a component of its aerospace engineering degree course. The author gives a brief outline of the present form that space engineering education takes at Kingston, describes its success to date, and outlines some possible plans for the future
