Abstract
New possibilities in information technology and new challenges in higher education stimulate revising earlier concepts and methods in computer system based higher education processes. As a contribution to these activities, this paper makes an attempt to evaluate results in virtual classroom processes during the past decade in order to outline a concept for next future research. The authors cite and consider new demands and trends in problem solving centered higher education for engineering. This paper starts with discussion on higher education processes as they are connected with human, knowledge, and software environment. Following this changed concepts and relevant new and implemented methods are introduced. Finally, problem solving centered higher education is sketched for the changed style of engineering.
