Abstract
An ultra wideband impulse radio (UWB-IR) is applied for short-range system such as wireless personal area network (WPAN) in office and home network. The characteristics of transmission signal are very complicated and difficult to predict. Therefore, the performances of transmission gain should be considered. In this paper, an experimental study of transmission loss for UWB-IR is presented. We discuss the characteristics of UWB-IR transmission system. The rectangular passband waveform is used as the UWB-IR transmitted waveform. The transfer functions of channels are measured in the convention room using vector network analyzer (VNA). The matched filter is considered at receiver side to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The optimum received signal, the relative gain and correlation coefficient are evaluated and shown.
