Abstract :
A new class of digital filters, called H∞ filters, has been developed during the last decade. In this paper, we present a new application of a discrete-time H∞ filter to the tracking of harmonic components in a power system. The H∞ filter, unlike the traditional Kalman filter, does not require the statistical information about disturbances, but only requires that the measurement and process noises to be bounded disturbances. Simulation results show that, if adjusted properly, an H ∞ filter can track the changes in the harmonics
