Abstract
This paper describes two methods that can be used to mitigate part of the noise in power line communications (PLC) channels. These methods were developed considering the particular characteristics of the noise in PLC channels. The first method is the increment of the symbol size for the discrete multi-tone transceiver (DMT) that is used for PLC, while the second is based on the use of a predictor. Both methods were evaluated using noise records obtained from real PLC channels.
