Abstract :
Compared to traditional reinforced concrete culverts, corrugated steel pipe culvert has many unique advantages, and it is widely used in road construction engineering around the entire world. Two corrugated steel pipe culverts were choose in north connection project of Nanjing Fourth Highway Bridge on Yangtse River. From testing the strain conditions of corrugated steel pipe culverst under different soil fill height by setting fiber bragg grating(FBG) sensor in the inner or outer of corrugated steel pipe culverts, we could get its mechanical properties. When the fill height was changed, the strain values of all test points set on the culverts changed, particularly in the top and bottom test points of the culvert increased significantly, which show that corrugated steel pipe culvert has the capacity of larger deformation. So In the soft soil area, using its good ductility can solve the problem of uneven settlement.
