Abstract
This paper investigates IQ cross-talk estimation and correction in a direct-conversion receiver for terrestrial digital video broadcasting (DVB-T). The cross-talk introduced by gain and phase imbalances are estimated using pilot signals. A way of correcting the IQ cross-talk in the presence of residual frequency offset is presented. It is shown that the bit error rate requirements for a DVB-T receiver can be met even in the presence of severe gain and phase imbalances. The algorithm is effective as long as the relative frequency offset is less than 0.01 with respect to the sub-carrier spacing.
