Abstract :
The freeway network has strong geospatial distributing characteristics, and is easy to implement the visual management by means of geographic information system (GIS)[1]. Thus, the paper has proposed a new design model of the provincial freeway network management information system (MIS) based on GIS. The management model based on the client/server architecture mode mainly supports such functions as input, management, maintaining, analysis, presentation and output of the geospatial data and it would offer a convenient tool for the freeway management offices. Moreover, the paper has set up a practical freeway networks and their facilities MIS based on this model. The practical system chose the database of Oracle and the spatial data engine of ArcSDE to manage spatial and attribute data, and was developed under the environment of .NET integrated to ArcGIS engine develop kit. The practice has indicated that the model was valid and practical. And the system has made up the conventional management´s limitation and is worthy to be popularized widely.
