Abstract
The importance of maintaining tyre pressures within specified limits is a critical factor in safe, economic driving. New technologies, including ABS, adaptive ride control, and run-flat tyres, make the development of a system for monitoring tyre pressures more critical than ever. However, many of the pressure monitoring schemes being developed are targeted at the higher end of the automotive market. The authors detail the design and initial testing of two low-cost solutions to this problem. The first is a moving piston system and the second is an inductively powered pressure transducer
