Abstract :
This paper introduced the characteristics and applications of wireless sensor networks briefly. With the rapid development of wireless sensor network(WSN) technology, the characteristic of energy limit in WSN has become the utmost concern among people nowadays. According to how to use the limited energy effectively, this paper discuss some typical energy-saving protocols in the MAC layer and in the network layer and compare their performances. By analyzing and comparing the advantages and disadvantages of these protocols, it put forward some new research directions of energy strategy and provided a powerful reference for the further application of WSNs.
