  • Abstract
The LUKE system is a knowledge structuring tool which is easy for any user to use. The system imposes a rigid structure onto the knowledge base which can only be effectively implemented in diagnostic applications. If the expert system can be investigated separately as a series of small scale activities, then LUKE may become more flexible. The complete expert system can be built by the knowledge engineer by linking small-scale prototype expert systems together to obtain the full solution. An exercise using LUKE has been carried out to determine the suitability of a computer workstation for a job. Further studies are being carried out into process control. LUKE provides a useful mechanism for the rapid prototyping of diagnostic expert systems. It is hoped that the LUKE system will be made commercially available in the next few years
