Abstract :
This paper presents a methodology to solve the optimal location of voltage sag monitors in a power system. The optimization problem is formulated by means of an analytical method described in an earlier work. A Tabu Search algorithm is implemented to solve the optimal location of measurement equipment to detect voltage sags in a power system. The proposed algorithm is implemented in Matlab®. Several case studies in IEEE-57 bus test system are presented showing the performance of the proposed methodology; the influence of the system operation state on the optimal location of voltage sag monitors is also analyzed.
