Abstract
A dynamic model of the start up conditions of a fixed speed stall control wind turbine connected to a 12.5 kV distribution feeder was simulated and verified against field data. Even under soft start conditions, reactive power and current transients up to four times higher than steady state were observed. Model, simulation, and verification details are given in this paper.
