  • Abstract
A new course named Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering was introduced in 2006 in the ECE department at the American University of Beirut. During this course students are exposed to different fields in the electrical and computer engineering disciplines. The main objectives of the course are to equip students with the basic tools to develop problem solving techniques, as well as design and implement engineering solutions. A substantial amount of time is spent on introducing the students to the various steps involved in developing an embedded controller using DSP processors. The students learn several concepts that are directly related to DSP techniques and applications. The material is supported by a number of exciting laboratory experiments and an elaborate and challenging design project.
