Abstract
The authors present an algorithm for analyzing nonplanar dielectric gratings and doubly periodic profiles characterized by an impedance boundary condition (IBC). Not only are these structures used to model radar absorbing materials, but they find various optical applications as well. Attention is focused on purely dielectric gratings that are bounded by free space from one side only. For high-contrast dielectric interfaces, the scattering from the grating can be treated using an IBC. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the application of this technique.<>
