  • Abstract
The H-polarized case is treated for the diffraction of Hermite-Gaussian beams from a sinusoidal conducting grating. The analytical solutions of plane-wave diffraction from sinusoidal gratings have been given previously for E- and H-polarized cases (Kojima, 1990). The incident beam-wave can be expressed by the plane-wave spectrum representation, and for the incidence of each plane wave component the space-harmonic solutions of the diffracted field can be found by using the analytical solutions. Therefore, the total diffracted fields are constructed by superposing the space harmonic solutions. The far-zone diffracted field can be evaluated by the saddle point method. The errors of the energy conservation are compared between E- and H-polarizations, and numerical examples of the diffraction pattern are obtained.<>
