Abstract :
The authors review experimental data on magnetostrictive response of amorphous ribbons, and magnetoelastic properties of ribbons and wires. The purpose is to highlight the main advantages offered by these materials over conventional crystalline materials. They outline some potential areas of application, and discuss some of the limitations of using these materials
