Abstract :
The actual geometry of the LTSA (linear tapered slot antenna) is analyzed by the moment method using an unequal-size rectangular segmentation scheme. Antennas on a finite dielectric substrate are also analyzed using the same method. It is found that the unequal rectangular segmentation scheme enables more accurate modeling of the LTSA with practical computation times. The CPU time required for the largest antenna analyzed is about four hours on a Concentrix Alliant. This saving is obtained because the segmentation scheme brings out more symmetries in the impedance matrix elements, thereby reducing the total number of mutual impedance calculations required.<>
