Abstract
In order to promote the adoption of archaeological prospection in Japan, it is necessary to accumulate trials and results with survey methods that are devised with the nature of the archaeological remains in mind. At the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, we regard GPR as effective for gathering information about Japanese sites, and have been amassing practical experience and results at such sites. In this report we introduce examples, among those where such demand is high, of practical applications at government office and temple sites, and consider the possibilities for using GPR prospection in Japan.
