Abstract :
Databases with uncertainty information appear often in practice, and the problem of uncertain data query and management has recently drawn much attention by research institutes and high technical corporations. Sensor networks, as a special kind of database, are often permeated with different forms of uncertainly including imprecision, incompleteness, vagueness and inconsistency due to various reasons like the environments factors, nodes failures, device noise, bandwidth and power supply constrains. But the traditional data query and management techniques cannot be directly applied to uncertain sensor database. Thus, in this paper, we summarize the types of data uncertainly in sensor database and have an analysis of the reasons that cause data uncertainty which is helpful to develop uncertainty based query processing techniques for sensor networks. Meanwhile, the state-of-the-art query processing methods are also surveyed.
