Abstract :
In this work, the influence of some factors on the discharge phenomenology involving an insulating surface was explored. Bulk samples made basically of epoxy resin were utilized and a discharge situation featuring a triple-junction condition was used. Partial discharges were produced along a gap formed by the interface between compressed air and the bulk sample. Although it is facile to state that numerous parameters bring changes in the discharge phenomenology, via, for example, feedback effects on the discharge regime and manifestations at the surface (for short and long terms), it is difficult to foresee some outcome dominance. Here some qualitative trends are established.
