Abstract :
Reviews recent results in the application of the wavelet transform in conjunction with fractal based techniques to image and general signal modelling. The wavelet representation allows scale to be made explicit, something which is inherent to the concept of a fractal, whether deterministic or stochastic. The authors deal specifically with the relationships between various fractal models and their wavelet transform as a front end to provide parameters for use in higher level analysis tasks
