Abstract
The necessity of intelligent control for pulp and paper processes is discussed, and a framework for pulp and paper process control with artificial intelligence techniques is presented. The rationale for intelligent control is discussed, the project configuration is described, and intelligent control for the digester and paper machine is considered. Integrated intelligent systems are outlined, and the research team organization is described
