Abstract
In the maritime environment there is considerable use of sonar, radar, communications, power and control systems. All of these systems employ digital signal processing activities in the achievement of their tasks. It is therefore prudent for the Royal Naval engineering College (RNEC) to continue to ensure that its graduate engineers are fully prepared with an appreciation of all aspects of signal processing. To this end a PC based signal processing workstation has been implemented. The authors describe the system and its typical functions. The authors discuss two applications of the workstation, these are the building of a DSP automatic voltage regulator and speed governor control loop, and an adaptive filter
