Abstract :
Compares three different formulations of spectral transitivity function based on LPC derived coefficients and assesses their suitability for speech segmentation in a variable frame rate (VFR) vocoder. The first of these formulations was proposed for a variable frame rate vocoder and the other two were proposed for speech recognition and verification systems. The quality of VFR vocoded speech has been compared with that of a fixed frame rate vocoder and some suggestions are made for further improvements to the segmentation, on the basis of this comparison
