Abstract
Renewable Energy especially wind energy integration has attained profound growth across the worldwide power system. Wind energy integration at large scale comes up with the challenge of reactive power management at power system level. The research work presented in this paper has analyzed the impact of wind energy on reactive power reserve with special reference to Danish Power System. Smart utilization of various local resources (like Dispersed Generation and offshore Wind Farms) to take over the reactive power responsibility from central power plants in future power system has been proposed which is supported by promising results of research work. The results in this research work have shown intelligent utilization of available local resources will avoid the need of new infrastructure otherwise needed for reactive power management in large scale wind integrated power system.
