Abstract
The authors consider the use of remotely sensed images for ocean monitoring, presenting experimental data which demonstrate the problems involved with both thermal images and radar backscatter images. Measurements of the ocean are shown which illustrate these problems, and some conclusions are made regarding sampling questions
