Abstract :
The authors describe the electrical design of a reflector antenna where the reflector dish is reconformable such as to provide highly different contoured beams. A typical EUTELSAT coverage has been selected as the design driver for the present study. It is a requirement of the study that the surface material contain bending stiffness such that a smoother surface shape is obtained. A preliminary analysis indicates that a shaped reflector with an aperture diameter of 1.3 m will be sufficient to meet the required electrical performance. A parent paraboloid with the following dimensions has therefore been selected: aperture diameter 1.3 m, focal length 1.3 m, clearance between lower-edge and paraboloid axes 0.2 m.<>
