Abstract :
Direct replication of biological surface morphology to form bionic functional surface with high precision in morphology and approximation in function is a new attempt on the manufacturing of bionic functional surface directly using natural creatures. The bio-replicated forming was proposed. Taking shark skin as representative of the non-smooth biological surface, and the micro-embossing as the structure transfer method, the large-area replication of the outward morphology on shark skins was demonstrated. Experimental results on replication precision and resistance test in water tunnel indicates that the bio-replicated forming shows good fidelity both in morphology and function, in the direct replication of the low-resistance biological surface morphology.
