Abstract :
In this paper, an algorithm in TIG welding based on image processing is proposed. Firstly we achieve two binary images by two different thresholds from image captured by camera, one is for welding torch detecting and the other is for welding line detecting. Secondly the image is segmented by means of region growing and the target area including welding torch, welding pool and welding line is get. Finally welding torch and welding line position is detected and the difference between both is used to adjust welding torch by drive stepper motor to track welding line. Experiment results indicate that the proposed algorithm can be used in practice and also the stability and reliability is greatly improved.
