Abstract :
The spherical-circular microstrip antenna studied is a suitable element for the spherical arrays which can be used on top of vehicles for satellite communication. The input impedance of this patch is computed using the generalized transmission line model, which models the antenna as a transmission line loaded with wall admittance. The computed input impedance of the spherical-circular antenna is compared with that obtained from the planar circular disc when the sphere radius is large. The radiation patterns are computed using the method of moments and the aperture model. It is found that the radiation patterns computed from the two models are comparable whenever the dielectric thickness is small and the dielectric constant is small.<>
