  • Abstract
Small electromagnetic devices like 400 Hz induction motors and generators, stepper motors, brushless resolvers, position transducers (pick offs or RVTs) and brakes are extensively used in aero-engine control systems. Some of these devices operate at temperature extremes of -60°C to +250°C. The authors deal with the design, construction, materials and features to achieve greater reliability, safe operation and long life of these devices. Application areas are tabulated showing the critical thermal aspects which these devices have to withstand for reliable and safe operation of jet engines
