Abstract :
A novel step-profiled horn which reduces the effective flare angle of the horn and allows for a gain of the order of 16 dB-20 dB to be achieved is proposed. The circular symmetry of the horn is enhanced by positioning the exciting dipole along the diagonal of the horn. A design example is shown in which the 10 dB beamwidth is reduced to 40 degrees with an identical beamwidth in both the principle E and H planes and in the 45 degrees plane.<>
