Abstract
A technique for accurately calculating the input admittance of a metal strip antenna contiguous with the edge of an electrically thick dielectric substrate is presented. An efficient computational procedure to solve the coupled equations for the current on the strip and fields in the dielectric is developed. The results obtained have been compared with experimental results, and excellent agreement is obtained over a wide frequency range. Antenna elements similar to the one described may be useful in the construction of MMIC (monolithic-microwave-integrated-circuit)-based phased arrays at millimeter wavelengths.<>
