Abstract :
The paper deals about the investigations of transient TWT excitation. The numerical simulations are largely based on a 1D time-domain model, as well as the frequency domain code LATTE. The time domain code models the particles, including space charge, using the particle-in-cell method. Fields are calculated using the pseudo-spectral time-domain method with a modification to incorporate helix waveguide dispersion effects and attenuation into a 1D model. Both models have been validated against experimental measurements on the XWING TWT.
