Abstract :
In order to improve the performance of a multibeam cathode, the technologies such as tungsten powder grading, cathode evaporation measuring, surface chemical cleaning, ternary alloy coating, and cathode manufacturing procedures etc. were studied systematically. The research showed, with these technologies, the current density and resistance to breakdown of the multibeam cathodes could be enhanced remarkably, and the manufactured multibeam cathodes were suitable for a 200 kW grid-modulated multibeam klystron.
