Abstract
Conventional backprojection of an N*N image employing O(N) projections has the complexity O(N3) which tends to dominate many reconstruction algorithms. Here, the authors present a backprojection algorithm which performs the same task in O(N2 log N) time. To achieve the authors they view the backprojection as line integration in the Radon (sinogram) domain. The core of the new algorithm consists of forming longer line integration results (called links) from shorter ones in an iterative scheme
