Abstract :
The availability of powerful and cheap computing hardware has made it possible to apply fourth-generation computer programming languages like Prolog and MACSYMA to problems such as the symbolic manipulation of dynamic system descriptions. In this paper the authors compare the two approaches as applied to a particular problem in dynamic system modelling
