Abstract :
Initial evidence is presented which supports the parasite-free nature of a specified Helmholtz-based weak form in three dimensions. This weak form is recommended for finite-element solution of electric field problems. Representative results are shown for a simple 3-D spherical geometry where completely erroneous results occur when the double-curl equation is discretized on C/sup 0 /physically correct solutions result when the proposed weak form is used on the same mesh.<>
